VOLUNTEERING & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES

Volunteer work in Red Crescent Authority aims to support and assist the community at the social, cultural and economic level individually or through subsidiary groups of the Crescent to provide services and assistance in various fields to meet urgent social needs or to serve one of the issues plaguing the community through the Red Crescent Authority and the volunteers joining the Authority.

 

DEFINITION OF VOLUNTEERING

Is the voltage provided by man to his community with his own will and in exchange for nothing intending thereby to bear some responsibilities in the areas aimed at achieving the humanitarian assistance. .

The Strategic Goal of the UAE Red Crescent regarding the Volunteers Raise the readiness of volunteers and establishing a culture of voluntarism in the community.

 

VOLUNTEERS MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES

• Provide an opportunity for the people of the UAE to participate in community service and to contribute in volunteering activities through specific mechanisms.

• Conservation and development of volunteering programs in local groups that support the goals and objectives of the UAE Red Crescent .

• Raise the readiness of volunteers and maintaining their morale through appreciating their achievements and contributions .

• Creating teams of volunteers to assist it in the implementation of tasks carried out by the Red Crescent Authority .

• Support specific activities carried out by the Authority’s departments by providing qualified volunteers.

 

JOINING THE VOLUNTEERS WILL LEAD YOU TO:

•Feel the value of work and especially the work for the community. • Self-confidence and self-esteem.

• Development of expertise and personal skills.

• Gain a social status in the society.

• Express the feelings of belonging and loyalty to the homeland with initiatives and tangible effort.

• Investment of leisure time.

TERMS OF VOLUNTEERING IN RED CRESCENT AUTHORITY

First: The Individuals’ Volunteering
In order the join the volunteerism of Red Crescent Authority, the applicant must meet the following conditions :-

•Be a citizen of the UAE or of the GCC countries or a resident who has a valid residency in the UAE.

•Be able to participate in volunteer programs established by a decision of the Secretary-General of the UAE Red Crescent Authority upon the recommendation of the Deputy Secretary-General.

• Be of good behavior.

• The age of the applicant shall not be less than (18) years and not more than (50) years, and applicants younger than (18) years will be accepted in the framework of the activities of student Crescent and applicants older than (50) years may be accepted by a resolution of the Deputy Secretary-General upon the recommendation of the Director of the administration.

• Be committed in the exercise of its activity to the principles of the International Federation.

• He must have an educational level not less than high school.

• He must have a license to practice the profession from the competent authorities in the state, if the practice of that profession requires that and his volunteering was limited to his career.

Second: volunteering of companies and institutions

• The institution must be reputable; so that its participation will not affect the Authority’s reputation and status in the local and international community.

• The institution wishing to volunteer must specify the names of its members who wish to volunteer provided that they meet the conditions of the acceptance of the individuals’ volunteering.

 

Documents required to accept the volunteerism which should be included in the web portal of volunteering:-

• A valid passport copy

• A valid residency copy (for expatriates).

• A photograph.

• The last academic qualification.

• A UAE ID.

• License to practice the profession for doctors, nurses and paramedics.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF VOLUNTEERS

THE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are nominated for training courses within the annual training program which is implemented during the year in collaboration with some of the departments of the Authority and also the institutions of community work, the volunteer must pass the core courses after the acceptance of his volunteering in the Authority (first aid, international humanitarian law, Sphere Project course)).

HUMANITARIAN VOLUNTARY WORK CAMP

A camp which is organized once a year, the camp aims to create an opportunity for the largest number of volunteers joining the Authority to benefit from courses and programs prepared for this camp on one hand, and to implement programs and humanitarian activities on the other hand, as the camp will be organized in different places and at the level of the UAE.

 

CARE FOR COMMUNITY INITIATIVES FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Authority will take care of the initiatives proposed by the volunteers joining the Authority and which are compatible with the objectives and principles of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, where the management of volunteers will provide the climate and adequate support for the implementation of community-based initiative, which aims to serve the community or one of its categories.

SAHEM HUMANITARIAN VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM

A program for the rehabilitation of a group of volunteers joining the UAE Red Crescent Authority so that the focus will be on attracting male and female university students, in addition to the main volunteers in the Authority whose ages are between (18-40 years), this age group is considered to be targeted in the program.

 

AOUN’S AWARD FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

This award seeks to promote the spirit of volunteerism and instilling social responsibility in the hearts of young people and to create the culture of volunteerism in the community.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE AWARD

To achieve the objectives of the Red Crescent Authority and to transform them into realistic businesses serving the local community.

To enhance the value of the volunteer work for the implementation of distinctive community and human-based programs serving the community.

To spread community awareness of social solidarity objectives through school students.

To support the important role of the school to instill the concepts of belonging and loyalty to the homeland and the spirit of volunteerism in the hearts of students and to use its role to spread the concepts of volunteering values in the community.

•Instilling the values of initiative and positive competition and participation in national activities.

SCHOOL STUDENTS’ CRESCENT

School student Crescent groups is formed in the beginning of the school year every year, where the coordinators of volunteer management in the branches of the Authority go to schools located in the geographical scope of the branch of the Authority, and work on forming students Crescent groups in these schools by filling out the form in the link below and they shall be subjected to the necessary training courses such as first aid and international humanitarian law and introduced to the role of the Red Crescent, these groups are also invited to participate in Aoun’s Award for Community Service launched by the Authority at the beginning of each academic year, which is an important initiative for the young people in the state schools …… To obtain the form of the formation of student Crescent group in schools, please click here. SAHEM HUMANITARIAN VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM

A program for the rehabilitation of a group of volunteers joining the UAE Red Crescent Authority so that the focus will be on attracting male and female university students, in addition to the main volunteers in the Authority whose ages are between (18-40 years), this age group is considered to be targeted in the program. Sahem program consists of seven groups affiliated to the Authority branches in seven emirates, there are two divisions in the program which are: –

 

FIRST: GROUPS LEADERSHIP DIVISION

This Division oversees the management of the performance of Sahem program groups formed in the branches of the Authority with direct communication and evaluation of the performance of all groups, where each group will have a leader from the volunteers in each branch…

SECOND: COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS’ CONTRIBUTION DIVISION

This Division oversees the contributions of civil society organizations in the implementation of humanitarian missions that are mentored by senior management of the Authority, so that all the necessary basics are provided and the coordination to accomplish each task to promote the community partnership in this area.

 

BASIC COURSES FOR SAHEM GROUP MEMBERS

• Course of international humanitarian law.

• First aid course.

• Course of dealing with disasters in times of crisis.

• The art of dealing with others.

• Organization and reception Protocol during conferences.

 

THE FUNCTIONS OF SAHEM PROGRAM

• Participation in the implementation of external tasks of the Authority.

• Support the implementation of programs and activities of the Authority’s departments on the local scale.
